Ardent fans of the hit CW show Supernatural are in for a treat. Jensen Ackles announced a prequel series of Supernatural is in development. This time, the show will focus on the Winchester brothers’ (Sam and Winchester essayed by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles respectively) parents, John and Mary. Supernatural ended in 2020.
This ‘Supernatural origin story’ will narrate John and Mary’s love story, how they met each other and how they went around, guns blazing and wielding knives, saving the world.
The show will be produced under the banner of Jensen and Danneel Ackles’s production company Chaos Machine Productions.
Ackles said in a statement that the first story he and Danneel wanted to tell was that of the original story of Supernatural through their production house.
Jensen Ackles will reprise his role of Dean Winchester as the narrator of the new series. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Samantha Smith essayed the roles of John and Mary Winchester in Supernatural but no official castings have been announced as of yet. John died in season 2 of the series while Mary was killed by a demon when Sam was still a baby.
The co-executive producer of Supernatural, Robbie Thompson, is all set to write the screenplay for the prequel series.
Trouble in paradise ascended when one-half of the on-screen siblings for 15 years, Jared Padalecki, took to Twitter to congratulate Ackles. He also displayed his disappointment regarding how he heard the news i.e. through Twitter and how Sam Winchester won’t have a part to play in The Winchesters.
Replying to a fan, Padalecki tweeted he was ‘gutted’ at hearing the news and that his previous tweet hadn’t been a joke, contrary to fans' reactions.
Jensen Ackles is all set to star as Soldier Boy on The Boys’ third season. Meanwhile, Jared Padalecki is producing and starring in Walker.
