The Whole Truth
Apart from the John Wick and Matrix film series, Keanu Reeves has done some other amazing movies as well, and one of them is surely–The Whole Truth. The legal drama is finally set to make its India debut through Lionsgate Play. Although The Whole Truth was released way later in 2016, Reeves’ 1997 film–The Devil’s Advocate, overshadowed the former. The 2016 film follows defense attorney Richard Ramsay, who must fight for Mike, who is accused of murdering his father.
The legal thriller drama–The Whole Truth is coming soon on November 15, 2024, only on Lionsgate Play. You will also be able to watch the movie through OTTplay Premium. Apart from Keanu Reeves, the movie also stars Renée Zellweger, Gabriel Basso, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jim Klock, Sean Bridgers, Christopher Berry, and Dana Gourrier.
The movie introduces Richard Ramsay (Keanu Reeves), a professional lawyer, who takes on a challenging case of defending a 17-year-old boy named Mike (Gabriel Basso), charged with the gruesome murder of his own father. However, as Ramsay delves deeper into the complex details of the crime, his new colleague, Jenelle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), joins the investigation.
With a keen eye for detail and sharp mind, Jenella starts to dig into the details as well, and she uncovers some unsettling truths that challenge the initial understanding of the crime. These disturbing facts threaten to unravel the case and cast doubt on the guilt of the young accused. What happens next? Will Richard be able to save the boy? Well, to know more, wait till November 15.
Back in 2016, director Courtney Hunt had an exclusive chat with Decider portal, where she shared a lot of information with the fans. For the unversed, Courtney Hunt is famous for the movie–Frozen River (2008), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for two Academy Awards.
Courtney told Decider that she is actually a lawyer and has graduated from law school, and her husband practises criminal defense, so it helped her a lot to make a movie like The Whole Truth. Even she and her husband used to have discussions on the movie during the making. According to Hunt, “It’s actually the reason I was interested in this project to begin with, because I feel like the morality and legality conundrum that a lawyer representing a criminal defendant has to deal with is really interesting.”
