The first season of the show was released in November last year, before which it was renewed for a second season.
The Wheel of Time starring Rosamund Pike, which was based on Robert Jordan's novel series of the same name, started streaming on Prime Video in November of last year. The show’s premiere was met with a lot of fanfare, especially by the fans of the original novel. The makers have now confirmed that the fantasy series will return for a third season.
Before the release of the premiere season, the makers had confirmed that the show would return for a second season. Yesterday at The Wheel of Time: Origins panel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video announced that the show has already been renewed for a third season, ahead of the release of season 2.
The series follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the Aes Sedai, an organisation of powerful women, who has the power of magic. She embarks on a journey with a group of people, one of whom will become the prophesied Dragon Reborn, who would either save the world or destroy it.
The series received positive reviews from critics and fans, who took a liking to the world the show was able to build. The first season also ended with a revelation that had the fans wanting more.
“Though the series slowly grows on you and might get you to go crazy about it totally, it will still create curiosity in you to find out what happens next. The way the finale explores balance, be it between the genders, the bad and good, and within ourselves, is interesting,” read the review of the show’s finale on OTTplay.
Apart from Pike, the first season of the show also features Daniel Henney, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, and Álvaro Morte in important roles.
The first season of The Wheel of Time is now available to stream on Prime Video.
