A new director joins the critical trauma team at a university hospital, thus turning things around for the better. The very director is Dr. Baek Gang-hyeok (Ju Ji-hoon), who is an expert at injury in warzones. Of course, he does not come without his challenges, but will they affect his working? What would happen when work starts affecting the hospital’s financial status? What happens when the team starts falling apart under pressure? Will Gang-hyeok be forced to stop and move elsewhere? That's what the series explores.

The show is adapted from a web novel Trauma Centre: Golden Hour by Hansanleega, which is loosely based on his time as an ENT doctor. Directed by Lee Do-yoon, The Trauma Code features Choo Young-woo, Ha Young, Yoon Kyung-ho and Jung Jae-kwang apart from Ji-hoon.
