Starring Rahul Bose, Anirban Bhattacharya, Anirban Chakrabarty, Anjan Dutt, and the popular Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon, the trailer sets the tone and mood of the web series effectively, It sets the show for a slow-burn but edgy and nail-biting ride dripping with suspense and mystery.

Rahul Bose plays an NRI Bengali and a journalist Nirupam Chanda, who looks to write an article on the restaurant ‘Rabindranath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni’ and the mystifying lady Mushkan Zuberi (Azmeri) who owns it. The trailer piques curiosity on the hanging question of who is telling the truth and who is not. Mushkan, on the other hand, is touted to be a temptress and a witch who seemingly has many secrets rolled up her sleeve. ‘I am a blood-sucking witch.’, she says tantalisingly to the journalist. While known for the heavenly taste and flavour of the savouries, the restaurant also serves food with something supposedly added to it by Muskan. In the midst of all this, five people have disappeared.

Anirban Bhattacharya essays the role of a Muslim old man named Akhtar Ali. Anirban Chakraborty, who is best known for his role in the Hoichoi web series Ekken Babu will be seen playing a police officer.

The novel of the same name by Bangladeshi author and translator Mohammad Nazim Uddin became a raging best-seller in Bangladesh when it was published in 2015. The story sparked interest in West Bengal too and was eventually conceptualised into a web series.

The plot unfolds in a Muslim-dominant city Sundarpur, which is just like a usual city apart from its scenic beauty. But the one thing everyone in the city knows is that Rabindranath never visited the place to feast. The reason is shrouded in as much mystery as the fact that a lot of others come to the city to do just that. A mysterious stranger arrives in the city in the search of some veiled truths and vistas, matters that are not known and perhaps best left alone. The secret, once it’s out of the bag, is the stuff of a spine-chilling story, which cannot however be told to others.

Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Aashenni will premiere on the streaming platform Hoichoi on August 13.
