The lead actors of Amazon Prime Video’s romantic drama series The Summer I Turned Pretty are die-hard fans of pop sensation Taylor Swift
A popular coming-of-age romantic drama series streaming on Amazon Prime Video, The Summer I Turned Pretty is inspired by author-turned-producer Jenny Han’s novel trilogy of the same name. Starring Lola Tung, Gavin Casalegno, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard and Christopher Briney, among others, the first season of the young-adult series was released in June 2022, while the second season is set to premiere on July 14, this year.
It’s no secret that The Summer I Turned Pretty has hailed pop sensation Taylor Swift as their icon. The actors of the show are unabashed ‘Swifties’ and they have been very vocal about that. In fact, the trailer of season two features Taylor’s version of Back to December as well as an unreleased re-recorded song from her upcoming album, Speak Now.
Commenting on why certain songs by the iconic singer-songwriter were so important for one of his undisclosed favourite moments in the series, Gavin, who plays Jeremiah, said, “I feel like music is like seasoning for a moment. When there are hard conversations or when there are steamy moments or anything like that, music really makes a difference. I think for this scene in particular, I think it definitely just spiced it up a little bit and made it more fun and lively and I think people will enjoy it.”
Even Lola’s character Belly is frequently seen vibing to the tunes of the pop star. Describing her first experience of attending the pop-idol’s Eras Tour, Lola said, “She was just magical.”

Since the teaser of season one itself, where we got a peek into Jenny ’s world with This Love as the backdrop, Taylor’s songs have been an integral part of the series. Now, Season 2 also features her popular number, August and her other undisclosed tracks that fans are eagerly waiting for.
While The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, the first three episodes of Season 2 will premiere on July 14 exclusively on the OTT platform.
