The song from the Mahesh Babu, Keerthy Suresh starrer, that released on the eve of Valentine's Day, is another success story for the musician
Like him, love him, hate him but you can't ignore him. Singer Sid Sriram has come a long way in Telugu cinema, from his Vellipomakey days to singing for a big star like Mahesh Babu in his next, Sarkaru Vaari Paata. The singer's melody from the film, Kalaavathi, had released a day before schedule and is receiving a lot of love from music lovers and the industry. Trending at the top position on YouTube, Kalaavathi is another cherry on the cake for the young musician.
Anything that Sid Sriram touches in Telugu cinema is turning into gold these days and his blazing form reminds us of the times when SP Balasubrahmanyam enjoyed a similar monopoly in the industry. While the former has a long way to go with respect to his Telugu diction, he's lucky for the fact that the composers are preserving the best of their works for him in the recent releases, be it Pushpa, Bangarraju, Radhe Shyam, Sarkaru Vaari Paata or Hero.
The main issue with the trend is the overkill of the same singer across every album. There is a certain section of listeners that's already tired of coming across a Sid Sriram number. The classical touches and the elongated alaaps make most of his songs feel more or less similar. The singer is gifted with a great voice, no doubt, but the emotional connect is an aspect that he has to work on, if he has to sustain this momentum. He can no longer escape with the excuse of not knowing Telugu.
Now that Sid Sriram has established himself formidably in the industry, this is the time for him to be picky and work on numbers that'll bring a new dimension to his repertoire.
