The OTT space is blooming with content and the theatres are welcoming the audience in abundance, and all of this looks like the landscape of the new normal where two wings of content flourish and don’t compete with each other. Between the euphoria of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur, one show hit Netflix almost a fortnight ago and took the world by storm. The Railway Men has now consecutively stayed in the top three positions for Netflix globally with a massive viewership.

The Railway Men Netflix made in partnership with Yash Raj Films, has now managed to hit gold yet again with its viewership. The show that is India-centric has of course managed to penetrate the audience in India, but is also finding one overseas too. The fact that is in the third position on Netflix’s Global Non-English TV list is proof and we are only in the second week of its release.

As per the stats on Bollywood Hungama, The Railway Men is ranked #3, is right now trending across 36 countries globally, and has a viewership of 4.6 million as per the last readings. The number might have only grown since the time these stats were made public. The show which is set in the 80s has found a massive audience.

Babil Khan in an exclusive chat with OTTplay while talking about The Railway Men said, "When I started, actually, before Shiv brought this, I only knew about the tragedy through general knowledge and statistics. That doesn't make you feel as much. But when I was researching for the character, I went there and I went to the Basti, and I saw that people that weren't even there at that time, but through generations, that gas has somehow been passed on, and people that weren't there are still victims of it. That's when it started settling within me the magnitude of what had happened."
