The Penguin Episode 6 was about everyone reestablishing themselves and while in that trying to climb the top by beating others.
It’s fascinating how audiences have already journeyed deeply with The Penguin over the past six weeks since the show premiered on HBO Max and JioCinema in India. This series, a direct spin-off from The Batman Epic Crime Saga picks up where The Batman left off, advancing the narrative with Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Penguin, who is set to play a significant role leading up to The Batman Part II. The show has delivered a rollercoaster of intricate storylines and tense drama, managing to explore numerous character arcs and plot twists over just six episodes without overwhelming viewers. All of this has led to a high-stakes climax, where Sofia Falcone (Gigante) now stands with a gun at the doorstep of Francis and Victor.
In case you need a refresher: Francis is Oz Cobblepot (aka Penguin)’s mother, while Victor (or Vic) is his sidekick, who he took under his wing after killing Alberto Falcone in episode one. Episode six sees several characters once again trying to reshape their lives and secure power. Oz, now based in Crown Point—the desolate and flood-ravaged part of Gotham—is establishing his empire, growing the drug Bliss (a hallucinogenic mushroom) and expanding its trade. However, a significant obstacle arises when the power supply to Crown Point is redirected to the elite sections of Gotham, leaving Oz and his operations in the dark. This shortage affects Francis as well, as she struggles to stay comfortable amidst the disruption.
To solve the problem, Oz meets Gotham’s Councilman Hady, threatening him to restore the power to Crown Point. Hady agrees, and soon enough, power is restored. Francis celebrates this moment of normalcy by playing some music and invites Victor to join her in a dance. The two enjoy the joyful moment together—until the camera zooms out, revealing Sofia standing at the door, watching them with a gun in her hand.

Clearly, Sofia now possesses a way to make Oz vulnerable and force him to obey her. Earlier in the episode, while speaking with Salvatore Maroni, she mentions how Oz has no obvious weakness, as he’s managed to keep his mother’s existence a secret. To protect her, Oz has been telling everyone she’s dead, shielding her from the risks of his dangerous lifestyle. Now that Sofia knows about Francis, she has the leverage she needs to control Oz. She may take Francis hostage, and as for Victor, it’s uncertain whether she’ll kill him or capture him as well. The show’s intensity is escalating, and the penultimate episode promises to be thrilling.
The creators have kept the details about The Penguin mostly under wraps. However, the official synopsis describes it as an eight-episode DC Studios series from The Batman saga, starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobblepot (aka “The Penguin”). It follows Oz’s journey beginning with the flooding of Gotham by The Riddler.
The Penguin premiered on September 20, 2024, with episodes dropping weekly on Mondays on JioCinema in India. The series is available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Marathi. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
