The New Look: Ben Mendelsohn, Juliette Binoche to play Christian Dior, Coco Chanel in Apple TV+ series

Apple TV+ has announced a thriller series, The New Look set set against the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris. The lead stars are Juliette Binoche and Ben Mendelsohn.

Here is the synopsis of the series: "Inspired by true events and filmed exclusively in Paris, The New Look is a live-action, World War II-era thriller that centers on the pivotal moment in the twentieth century when Paris led the world back to life through its fashion icon, Christian Dior (Mendelsohn), whose creations dominated world fashion in the decade following World War II. The interwoven saga will include the surprising stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals: the grand dame Coco Chanel (Binoche), Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Pierre Cardin, Yves Saint Laurent and more."

The New Look is written, directed and executive produced by by Todd A Kessler whose credits include The Sopranos and Bloodline.

Apple Studios is producing the show, the first project through its new partnership with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Kessler. Mark A. Baker is also attached as producer.

Variety writes that among the crew is Oscar winning production designer Anne Seibel who has previously worked on Emily in Paris, Midnight in Paris and Marie Antoinette.

Filming will begin in Paris this spring and a release date announcement will soon follow.
