The Ulaganayagan is currently busy with Shankar's mega budget project Indian 2
Kamal Haasan, who is on a high after the huge success of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram, has been busy with Shankar's Indian 2 for the last few months. The big budget film being bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies is expected to release in theatres in 2023.
The veteran actor-filmmaker has an interesting line-up, and most of them has him joining hands with promising directors for the first time. Mollywood filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, who worked with him in Vishwaroopam, was one among them. The filmmaker, who made acclaimed projects like Maalik and Take Off, okayed a movie with the Ulaganayagan.
The director himself confirmed the same on a few occasions, but he remained tight-lipped on the film's genre and story. However, there were speculations on the project being a sequel to Thevar Magan which was released three decades ago. Needless to say, Kamal fans were kicked about watching their matinee idol in the second installment of their favourite film.
But there are unconfirmed news doing the rounds that the actor-director duo has decided to part ways owing to creative differences. But sources say that the project is on, and that it will commence once Kamal completes Indian 2. The untitled film will be written by Kamal himself apart from him producing it.
Meanwhile, Mahesh's Ariyippu is gearing up for a release. The Malayalam movie starring Kunchacko Boban and Divya Prabha in lead roles will start streaming on December 16. The film, which was screened at a few prestigious film festivals, is skipping theatrical release, leaving movie lovers surprised.
Ariyippu has Mahesh as one of its producers. The filmmaker's previous outing was Fahadh Faasil's Malayankunju; he had penned the screenplay for the survival drama which stood out for its making and music.
