The Matrix Resurrections: Keanu Reeves’ sci-fi action film will have OTT release on THIS date

Also starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Priyanka Chopra and Jada Pinkett Smith, the movie is the fourth instalment in The Matrix franchise.

The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth film in the fan-favourite The Matrix franchise, hit theatres around the world on December 22, 2021. The film, which stars Keanu Reeves in the lead, is set to start streaming on OTT in India.

The news is shared by Amazon Prime Video, who will stream the movie in India. In a social media post with the poster for the movie, it is announced that The Matrix Resurrections will start streaming on the platform from May 12 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

The movie is helmed by Lana Wachowski, one half of the Wachowskis who directed the other three films in the franchise. While Keanue Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Lambert Wilson reprise their roles from the previous films, Matrix 4 also features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

The movie, which was released after a lot of fanfare, failed to impress all sections of the fans. With mixed reactions and reviews, the movie failed to leave a big impact at the box office.

“It’s interminably long, and the philosophy gets too convoluted to make sense after a while. Whereas the three Matrix films combined action and philosophy seamlessly and simply, this one just dithers. And despite being dialogue-heavy, the lead pair say very little. As a homage, the film fails. Watch it at home.” reads the movie’s review on OTTplay.

The movie is set 60 years after the events of the original trilogy, where Neo (Keanue) is living an ordinary life, but has difficulties differentiating between reality and fantasy. The Matrix Resurrections reportedly only collected $156 million at the worldwide box office.
