The Magic of Shiri: Divyanka Tripathi's JioCinema series ready to launch after a year-long delay?

After several delays, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya's series The Magic of Shiri is expected to premiere next month on JioCinema.

Back in July 2023, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya was all set to release her series on JioCinema, titled The Magic of Shiri. The makers announced just a few days ahead of the premiere that they have pushed back the series and will soon announce a new release date. After more than a year of delay, it appears that The Magic of Shiri will finally see daylight. Reports suggest that JioCinema will likely host the series' premiere on October 18, 2024. However, the makers are yet to make the official announcement.

Last year, Divyanka took to her Instagram page to announce the postponement of the release, sharing a note that stated, "Dear esteemed guests, get ready to be amazed" in Hindi. "I have something heartfelt to share with all of you: Shiri will be coming to meet you all with a new day and a new date. Just a little more patience is needed from all of you. We are grateful for your understanding."

Members of the Jain community reportedly voiced concerns, leading to a delay in the premiere date. JioCinema originally scheduled the digital launch of the show, starring Divyanka and Jaaved Jafferi, for July 13.

Divyanka addresses the controversy

While talking to Zoom TV, Divyanka spoke about the controversy, stating that a lot of hard work has gone into the project from the entire team. Obviously, the actor did not mean to offend anyone. Hopefully, they can figure this out.

Some members of the Jain community were upset over specific moments in the premiere trailer for The Magic of Shiri according to a report in the ETimes.

Overview of the series and cast

Birsa Dasgupta directs the series, which stars Namit Das, Parmeet Sethi, Darshan Zareewala, and Neelu Kohli. Jio Studios is behind it, while Jyoti Deshpande and Tanveer Bookwala are producing. The Magic of Shiri follows Divyanka as Shiri Shah, a woman who gives her life to marry a Jain but ultimately decides to follow her heart and her aspirations.
