The Last of Us will see both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey reunite with HBO after the popular fantasy series Game of Thrones.
The first look of The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal, was released by HBO today.
HBO's adaptation of popular video game comes from Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and the game's creative director Neil Druckmann. Kantemir Balagov will direct the pilot.
According to Variety the story takes place two decades after the fall of modern civilisation, and will follow Joel (Pascal), who is hired to escort teenager Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone.
What was meant to be a short trip turns into a long journey for the two travel as they across a post-apocalyptic US and learn to depend on each other for survival.
In the first look still, the backs of the two characters are seen. They stand in a grassy countryside, looking at the remnants of a crashed plane.
HBO will produce this series with Sony Pictures, PlayStation Productions, Word Games and game developer Naughty Dog.
Also part of the cast are Gabriel Luna (as Joel's brother Tommy), Nico Parker (as Joel's daughter Sarah), Merle Dandridge (as Marlene, the leader of a resistance group).

Variety adds that the show is currently in production. The makers are yet to reveal a release date.
Pascal is currently part of Disney+ Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian.
