The drama that is unfolding around Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar starrer The Ladykiller has dominated all the mainstream headlines. Director Ajay Bahl confirmed yesterday (November 7) that he indeed released an incomplete movie. But it turns out the filmmaker is now running away from his words, as in a new statement, the filmmaker calls this a rumour and one that is entirely baseless.

For the uninitiated, The Ladykiller was released last week in selected theatres and did not have any buzz around it. The movie was never promoted, and even Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar didn't even share anything about it on their social media accounts. The weird trajectory attracted a lot of attention, and soon it was said that the makers had released an incomplete movie.

Ajay Bahl's Comment From November 7

Soon, replying to a YouTube page called Tried and Refused Production, Ajay Bahl confirmed that The Ladykiller is an incomplete film and they never got to shoot 30 pages out of the 117-page screenplay. He even detailed how Arjun and Bhumi’s entire romance, Bhumi’s alcohol addiction, and Arjun’s total sense of despair went out of the window. He even said that it was extremely painful to shoot the film but also clarified that Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar had nothing to do with it.

But it turns out, in less than 24 hours, Ajay Bahl is now changing his statement and is now calling the rumours of The Ladykiller being incomplete and baseless. He even called the remark sarcastic and claimed it was made in passing.

Ajay Bahl's Latest Statement

In a statement circulated by his representatives, Ajay Bahl said, “It’s a humorous take on a baseless rumour circulating about the film's completion status. I understand that humour and sarcasm can sometimes be misinterpreted. I want to emphasise that Ladykiller is a complete film which has been released for the audiences, and I am immensely proud of this project. I am grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this film to fruition.’’

No one from the cast, including Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, has yet broken their silence. The movie has not garnered decent footfalls on the big screens, and the reviews aren’t helping either. The Ladykiller was released on the big screen on November 3, 2023. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
