The Kashmir Files is the talk of the town these days, raking in the earnings at the box office and still figuring in headlines ever since its release last week. With a film that has garnered so much attention, it’s reasonable that cinephiles might be curious to check it out and see for themselves the movie that has stirred so much debate. For viewers who are not able to catch the film on the big screen, here is some good news as the film is expected to make its way onto OTT platforms soon.
The streaming rights of the film have reportedly been acquired by ZEE5, and it is being speculated that the movie will be released on the platform in the last week of April. The reason for the release date being fixed as so is reportedly because the makers want to make sure that the film has an uninterrupted box office run, which does not get affected due to the film’s digital release.
The Kashmir Files is written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and revolves around the story of the mass exodus of Kashmiri pandits during the 1990s. Celebrities such as Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Suniel Shetty have appreciated the film. Even Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has reportedly also positively reacted to the film.
The film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Pallavi Joshi, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava, Prithviraj Sarnaik, Bhasha Sumbli and Prakash Belawadi. Joshi, Agnihotri’s wife and a producer on the film, had recently opened up about how the film took four years to make, with a lot of effort having to be put into its research.
