The film revolves around the story of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits that took place in the 1990s. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Prakash Belawadi, Mrinal Kulkarni and Atul Srivastava in pivotal roles.

The Kashmir Files had recently earned over Rs 250 crore at the box office, thus becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year. It gave tough competition to movies like Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhan Paandey and Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi at the Box Office.

The movie has been appreciated by celebrities such as Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam Dhar, Amir Khan and more. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also expressed his support for the film.

Agnihotri had earlier revealed that he would make a web series based on the film’s subject matter as well, saying that they had collected enough material as part of their research for the film to do so. The director had said that he and his team had spent almost four years researching the film, collecting testimonials from almost 700 Kashmiri Pandits and direct victims of the exodus.

The Kashmir Files was released in theatres on March 11. After its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on ZEE5 and is expected to arrive on the platform sometime in May.
