The upcoming film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Chinmay Mandlekar
As The Kashmir Files is inching closer to its release, director Vivek Agnihotri has found himself making headlines yet again. The director recently alleged that comedian Kapil Sharma refused to promote The Kashmir Files on his TV show, The Kapil Sharma Show.
On Twitter, a fan had talked about how Agnihotri’s film should be promoted on Sharma’s show and the director revealed that the show makers had refused to do so. Replying to the fan’s tweet, the filmmaker had said that only the show’s makers and producers can decide who to invite. In another tweet, Agnihotri talked about how he himself was a fan of The Kapil Sharma Show, but the makers refused to invite him on the show as his film did not have any ‘big stars’. “Directors, writers and Good actors are considered as NOBODIES," the director added.
The director’s claims led to the hashtag #BoycottKapilSharmaShow to trend on the platform, with users becoming infuriated at Sharma’s show denying to promote the film.
Earlier, Agnihotri had claimed that he had to delete his Twitter account due to the threats and hostile messages he received from people regarding his upcoming film.
The upcoming film revolves around the story of the exodus and genocide of Kashmiri Pandits that took place in the 1990s. The film features Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava, Prithviraj Sarnaik, Bhasha Sumbli and Prakash Belawadi among others. The film, which is also written by Agnihotri, is produced by Zee Studios.
The Kashmir Files is slated to be released in theatres on March 11, 2022.
