The Hijacking of Flight 601 will be debuting on OTT this summer. Directed by Camilo Prince and Pablo González of The Great Heist fame, the taut thriller will be fast-paced and adrenaline-hiking with only 6 episodes. The show is inspired by the longest aerial hijacking in the history of Latin America, which took place on May 30, 1973.
The Hijacking of Flight 601 release date and trailer
The Hijacking of Flight 601, produced by Miracol Media, will be available for streaming from April 10, 2024, onward. The show has also released a trailer, which offers a fleeting glimpse at the tale of survival, bravery, and the socio-political situation back in the day of the 1970s Colombian government.

The Hijacking of Flight 601 plot
Filmed about a time when only the elite could travel by air, and pilots and stewardesses were regarded with special respect, the series offers a rough contrast by shifting from sheltered privilege to instinctual survival. The Hijacking of Flight 601 explores the day two armed revolutionaries hijacked and threatened to blow up the flight, unless the Colombian government conceded to their requests.

Their demands? A sizeable ransom money of $200,000 and the release of 50 political prisoners. Else they will start shooting the passengers. With the plane flying aimlessly, injured passengers, and frustrated hijackers crowding the aerial aisles, the plane’s captain and two stewardesses must do the impossible, look after the passengers, ensure the plane’s safety, and hoodwink the skyjackers, while negotiating with the Colombian authorities for their safety.
