The Greatest Hits is a romantic fantasy drama written, directed, and executive produced by Ned Benson. Produced by Searchlight Pictures, the film has also released a trailer. The film had its world premiere yesterday at SXSW in Texas and will be enjoying a brief theatrical release on April 5, 2024, before streaming internationally on digital platforms.

The Greatest Hits began streaming on Hulu on April 12. Indian viewers can enjoy the film on Disney+ Hotstar. The film has a starry ensemble cast, comprising the likes of Lucy Boynton as Harriet, Austin H. Min as David, David Corenswet as Max, along with Austin Crute, Retta, and Jackson Kelly in prominent roles.

The Greatest Hits is a nuanced and empathetic exploration of grief, especially when it involves the death of the love of your life. Harriet is a music producer turned librarian who has a penchant for vinyl records, a love she shared with her deceased boyfriend Max. Harriet had thought she would have an eternity with Max, but an ill-fated car accident snatched him from her.

Now, two years later, Harriet is still struggling to cope with the empty hole in her from missing him. However, she discovers a peculiar occurrence whenever she listens to music records she heard with Max. She travels back in time to spend moments with Max as if he were alive, deeper in love with him than ever. Also, there might be the teensiest chance of saving Max during these time-travel adventures.

But things begin to change when Harriet’s path crosses with that of David, another fellow mate from her group therapy lessons. She goes to those counselling sessions without much hope or inclination for participation until she connects with him. But what happens when she begins to feel guilty for both—travelling to the past to spend time with her greatest love and beginning to enjoy the present with someone who is not Max? Who will she try to save, Max or her bond with David?
