The film also stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick and Regé-Jean Page.
The Gray Man is counting down the days to its Netflix release. Fans certainly have a lot to look forward to in the film. In addition to being helmed by the Russo Brothers, the upcoming film will also see Dhanush in an action-packed avatar, sharing the screen with Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick and Regé-Jean Page. In the film, Dhanush’s character is addressed as the ‘sexy Tamil friend’ by Evans’ character. The former recently spoke about the same in a press conference held in Mumbai, and weighed in on the whole North-South discussion taking place in the Indian film industry.
Dhanush said that although it was not ‘necessary’ to mention his character as such in the film, the actor did not find anything wrong with it at all. Details like that were included so that there would be an added layer of ‘flavour’ to his character and Dhanush said that he did not find any harm in saying that his character was a ‘Tamil guy from India’.
On the North -South discussion, Dhanush said “But I would appreciate it if they collectively call us as Indian actors rather than South actors or North actors. The world has shrunk and the borders are fading. This is the time to come together and make this one big industry. It would be really great if we function together and make movies for everybody”.
Dhanush went on to say that with the advent of digital platforms, it was especially easy for everyone to get easy access to all kinds of films so that everyone’s talents get a wider audience. “It's a great time to be an actor as well. If you do your job right you’re noticed by everybody. It doesn't make sense even now to mention me or anybody as ‘South’ actors. We’re just actors from India. We’re Indian actors”, he added.
The Gray Man will premiere on Netflix on July 22.
