The Family Man season 2 will mark Samantha Akkineni's debut in the Hindi film industry.
After netizens and the Tamil government called for the ban of The Family Man 2 for allegedly insulting the Eelam Tamils and their struggle for independence, the creators of the show Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK issued a statement, asking the viewers to pass a judgment after watching the series.
The trailer of the show, which is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 4, had scenes in which Samantha Akkineni’s character of a Tamil fighter was called a terrorist. This even prompted Tamil Nadu’s IT minister T Mano Thangaraj to send a complaint to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to stop or ban the release of the show.
Responding to these, Raj and DK have now issued a statement. “Some assumptions and impressions have been made based on just a couple of shots in the trailer. We request everyone to wait and watch the show when it releases. We know you’ll appreciate it once you watch it,” they shared.
The duo also said that their creative and writing team also consists of Tamilians. “We are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people,” they said.
In the statement, they added that they have put in years of hard work into this show, and have taken great pains to bring to the audiences a sensitive, balanced, and riveting story.
The Family Man season 2, starring Manoj Bajpaayee, Priyamani and Samantha in the lead roles, will release on Amazon Prime Video. It is still unclear whether Neeraj Madhav, who played the lead antagonist Moosa in Season 1, would return in the second season.
