The Expanse fans, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is almost upon us. The sixth and final episode of the series ending season will stream in a few hours. In fact, when the final season was show. Even after five episodes (and the five-minute bonus scenes for each), it feels like a lot more needs to be said and done to do justice to the popular sci-fi show, which is based on James SA Corey’s nine books. Cancelled after only three seasons on Syfy, The Expanse had been given a second lease of life on Amazon with another three seasons, and it remains to be seen if the makers will get a chance to address the

According to reports, the last episode, Babylon’s Ashes, which is named after the sixth book, will have a 75-minute runtime, as against the 45-50 minutes ones we’ve had so far. This should give the makers enough time to give fans the explosive showdown they’ve been waiting for between the United front, including Rocinante captain James Holden, Chrisjen Avasarala, Amos Burton, Camina Drummer, Naomi Nagata, Clarissa Mao, Bobbie Draper, and Marco Inaros’ Free Navy.

Fans have been debating whether the episode will have the two sides fighting it out no-holds-barred, or if Holden’s theory on how the Rings are reacting to passage through them, could play off differently. Holden, after all, wanted to keep Inaros in the loop that ships have been vanishing into thin air. The United Front will probably engage the Free Navy at the Medina Station in the Ring gate, where Inaros has installed railguns that earlier took out an entire Martian fleet. Will the Roci get a second chance to knock off the Pella? There’s also the Laconia arc about Kara and her ‘reincarnated’ brother that needs to be dealt with, so Babylon’s Ashes will likely be packed to the hilt with action.

The sixth and final episode of The Expanse will air on January 14 on Amazon Prime Video.
