The Antoine Fuqua-directed film is the final instalment in The Equalizer trilogy.
Nearly two months after its theatrical run, The Equalizer 3 has made its way to the OTT platform. The film featuring Denzel Washington in the lead role has dropped on Prime Video and BookMyShow Stream but is on rent. The film can be bought for Rs. 249 on both streaming platforms. Prime Video has released the bonus X-ray edition of The Equalizer 3.
Plot synopsis:
In the film, Denzel Washington plays Robert McCall, a former assassin with a murky past who goes back into the field to get revenge on the powerful for mistreating the powerless. Surprisingly at ease in southern Italy, he learns that the local criminal bosses govern his newfound buddies. As things begin to turn deadly, McCall realises he must become the protector of his friends by confronting the mob.

The Equalizer series background:
The Equalizer is based on the series of the same name by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. Richard Wenk wrote the screenplay, and Antoine Fuqua has directed it. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Denzel Washington, Antoine Fuqua, Steve Tisch, Clayton Townsend, Alex Siskin, and Tony Eldridge are the producers of the film.
Plans for a prequel:
In August of 2023, Fuqua mentioned plans for a prequel film exploring Robert McCall's backstory. The director said that he would consider casting John David Washington or Michael B. Jordan in the part and that he would also consider employing de-ageing technology to make Washington look younger.

Later that month, Fuqua said that he was open to returning as director for a fourth Equalizer film if Denzel Washington was interested in reprising his part. Fuqua had previously said that the studio had discussed The Equalizer 3 as the series finale.
