The quintessential Bangali sleuth Eken Babu has taken the box office by storm this weekend
The Eken which was released on April 14, is facing a hurricane named KGF: Chapter 2 but is still holding on to its own. The movie, directed by Joydeep Mukherjee has Anirban Chakrabarti reprise the role of Eken Babu on the big screen with ease and elan.
Eken Babu’s lovable antics and sharp mind have already created an uproar at the box office. Our desi ‘Johnny English’ became the talk of the town in the Kolkata market before its release due to his lovable nature and cerebral cheeky one-liners.
The Instagram video shared by SVF Entertainment shows an overwhelming crowd gathered eagerly to catch the show. The official numbers are not declared yet, but the audience’s response has been phenomenal so far.
“We were looking forward to a decent response but the audience so far has been really generous, especially the kids and families are having a great time at the theatres after the pandemic. We are all very happy (sic)”, music composer of The Eken Aamlaann Chakraabarty recently told OTTplay.
The tweets shared by SVF paint the same picture and the audience members are excited about the movie.
Debasish Mondal of Mandaar-fame plays a pivotal role in the movie along with Paayel Sarkar. Eken Babu’s two allies played by Somak Ghosh and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay are also seen at the theatres sharing the accolades of the public.
The Eken is an adventure thriller comedy genre movie that is drenched in mystifying fogs of the valley and back alley of the mountain town.
Ekendra Sen or Eken Babu is created by author Sujan Dasgupta. A six-episode web series based on the character, directed by Anirban Mallik, began streaming on Hoichoi on March 3, 2018.
