The Crown

The sixth and final season of The Crown on Netflix has an official premiere date, but it won't air all at once. The OTT platform will divide The Crown's final season into two parts, as it has done with several other series over the past year and a half.

The initial part will consist of four episodes and wrap up with the fatal Parisian tunnel evening that would go down in history after Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) met Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) as a result of Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Diana's ugly divorce. Six episodes will make up the second half, which will follow Prince William as he battles to adjust to life at the prestigious Eton College in England after Diana's passing and as the monarchy struggles to deal with the altering public opinion following the loss of "the Queen of Hearts." Season 6 will span the years 1997 to 2005.

Debicki said on Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast that before taking on the part of Princess Diana, she hadn't felt the weight of playing the people's princess. She was quoted as saying: “I never really understood what was lost because I hadn’t experienced the impact that she had on the public… She’s taught me a lot; I think she lived her life with an enormous amount of courage and with a strong love ethic. She really loved deeply and she needed to be loved in a way that I don’t know she ever really found.”

The Crown Cast

Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Ed McVey as Prince William, Meg Bellamy as Kate Middleton, and Luther Ford as Prince Harry are all featured in the Season 6 cast.

Over its past five seasons, The Crown has garnered 21 Emmy Awards, including the best drama series trophy for season four. Series creator Peter Morgan executive produces with Mackie, Andy Harries, Stephen Daldry, Matthew Byam Shaw, and Robert Fox.

The Crown is all set to take its final bow on November 16 when Season 6 premieres on Netflix — marking the end of a groundbreaking era in television.
