Keanu Reeves starrer John Wick which got famous for his titular character stepping back into a life of crime to avenge the death of his dog is getting its prequel series.
Titled The Continental, the three-part series will depict the titular establishment, a haven and neutral ground for assassins over the world. The 90-minute per episode series will trace the events that led to the establishment of The Continental in the 1970s in New York, forty years before the events of John Wick movies come to pass. The series will focus on a young Winston, essayed by the American Gods actor, Ian McShane in the movie series.
The first and third episodes of the new Lionsgate and Starz’s limited series will be directed by Albert Hughes, who directed The Book of Eli. Meanwhile, the second episode’s director is undecided as of now. All the episodes have been described as not less than a feature film due to the duration. The series has a whopping budget of 20 million USD.
Chad Stahelki, the director of the first three John Wick films and also of the upcoming two, will be the executive producer on this series along with Keanu.
John Wick series has currently three parts out, all streaming on Amazon Prime Video India. The fourth of the hit movie series is in production with the fifth one in development. Most of the characters will be reprising their roles including Ian McShane as Winston, Laurence Fishburne as Bowery King and Lance Reddick as Charon.
