The actor also talked about what she does to ‘detoxify’.
Sonali Bendre made a roaring comeback to the silver screen with The Broken News. The series saw the actress essay the role of a journalist who holds tight to her ethics, facing off against another media house that holds no qualms in engaging in sensationalism. It seems that the actress too is well aware of how close to the truth her web series actually is. Bendre recently opened up about how sensationalism is something that is deep rooted in the world we live in.
In conversation with news agency IANS, the actress spoke of how the news is not the only field where ‘sensationalism’ is rampant. "Sensationalism is a part of society, it's not just the news”, she said and added that there was a bit of it in ‘everything out there’. As there were numerous ‘voices’ for people to listen to, the loudest among them ended up getting most of the attention at times, she added.
Bendre talked about how the voices in question wanted to become even louder and how people became drawn to them as they did. Calling the situation ‘unfortunate’, she said that such things were ultimately out of people’s control.
Bendre revealed what she did to ‘detoxify’ and ‘shut down’. She recalled how she tried to calm herself when she was ill, as she felt so fragile that even the smallest things could trigger her sadness. In those situations, the actress said that she would switch everything off and focus only on the things that made a difference.
The Broken News also marked Bendre’s digital debut. The series recently garnered more than 100 million on ZEE5 recently, becoming the most watched show on the platform this year.
