The Boys Season 3: Jansen Ackles had to fight it out for Soldier Boy’s role, he was not even on list of actors being considered for the role

The third season of Prime Video's 'The Boys' will premiere on June 3, and everyone is looking forward to it. With familiar faces and new characters enticing audiences in the newly released trailer, curiosity for the action is building up. Soldier Boy, who is portrayed by Jensen Ackles from the hit drama series Supernatural, is one of the many new characters in the superhero drama. Jensen will play Vought Corporation's very first Supe, wearing the mask, body armour, and shield of an 80-year-old superhero.

In 2019, Ackles concluded his 15-season series Supernatural and promptly began working on an interesting new project with a long-time friend and Supernatural producer, Eric Kripke. Kripke is one of the writers of The Boys. In a press statement, Kripke recalls how Ackles became a part of the series. He was chatting with Ackles about something totally irrelevant and just said, “Hey, I'm about to be unemployed. Do you have anything on The Boys for me?” Eric Kripke replied he will think about it, since he was not sure if he wants Ackles for a solo guest appearance. Perhaps, he had something a little more juicy for Ackles. The following morning, Ackles received the Soldier Boy content.

But Ackles had to fight for it. Speaking about being shortlisted for the role, he said Kripke had shown him a list of great actors who they were considering initially for the character and he was not one of them. “So, this wasn’t something where Kripke just called and said, ‘Hey, come on over.’ This was something I had to fight for, and luckily it worked out,” he said.

Apart from Soldier Boy, Nick Wechsler's Blue Hawk, Katia Winter's Russian mob leader Little Nina, Sean Patrick Flanery's Gunpowder, and Miles Gaston Villanueva's Supersonic will all appear in Season 3 of The Boys, with some of them being members of the original superhero organisation Payback. From June 3, 2022, Prime Video will release weekly episodes of the brand new season. The first two seasons of The Boys are available to stream solely on Prime Video.
