Both The Boys and Gen V ride on a solid fan base that is excited to see if the two shows ever collide in an alternate universe.
The Boy-Gen V Crossover Possible?
The world is still busy wrapping its head around The Boys Season 4, which has now dropped on Amazon Prime Video. Even if you aren't a fan or haven't seen a single episode, you can't escape the frenzy. Everyone is discussing and dissecting the show that has quickly become a significant part of our pop culture. This is not an over-exaggeration, because how else do you explain the fact that it now branches out into multiple spin-offs? Among the announced spin-offs, Gen V is one of the most talked about. Both The Boys and Gen V ride on massive popularity and the dedicated fans of the shows hope for a crossover where the characters unite for a tie-up show.
Indeed, it is an exciting idea to imagine the heroes from The Boys meeting the Gen V gang and going against a common enemy together. This would be a dream come true for fans who have loved both IPs equally. But is there a possibility of this happening anytime soon? Showrunner Eric Kripke recently addressed this idea and, for now, has dampened hopes for a crossover. However, he is not entirely negative about the idea.
According to Variety, when asked about the potential for a crossover between The Boys universe and the Gen V universe, Eric Kripke said, “I like the idea that there are strands and Easter eggs that kind of pop back and forth, but a full team-up — no. I live in total fear of this notion that you have to watch both of them to understand the other one.”
Kripke explained why he thinks The Boys and Gen V cannot come together, giving a very solid reason. “And so to me, it’s like, if you want to watch The Boys and you don’t want to watch this other show, don’t watch it. If you want to watch Gen V and don’t want to watch The Boys—wwhich I actually know a lot of people who do—ggreat. They’re each telling their own story. They each have their own reason for being. They each need to be good enough to exist without the other one existing. But I’m not giving the audience homework,” he said.
The main show, The Boys is wrapping up its run with Season 5, but there's a lot more coming from this universe. Several spin-offs are planned, and two confirmed ones are Gen V and a Mexican spin-off. While the former is already on a good track, not much has been revealed about the latter. Only time will tell what the future holds for The Boys universe.
The Boys Season 4 was released on Amazon Prime Video on June 13, and the first three seasons are already available on the platform.
