After being dropped by Disney’s 20th Century Studios, due to a financial crunch as a result of the failure of 20th Century Studios and New Regency’s ill-fated collab The Creator, The Bikeriders has been picked up by Focus Features, who released their trailer for the film on December 18, 2023.

Another reason for the delay was the unavoidable complications that were a result of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Earlier the film had been scheduled for release in December 2023. However, Focus Features have announced upon acquisition that they will be releasing the film theatrically on June 21, 2024. Later, the film is expected to stream on Peacock, though OTT partners are not confirmed yet.

The film, based on the titular photography book by Danny Lyon, The Bikeriders features a stellar cast, comprising of the likes of Killing Eve star Jodie Comer, Venom hero Tom Hardy, and Elvis actor Austin Butler. It also sports the likes of Mike Faist, Damon Herriman, Emory Cohen, Toby Wallace, Beau Knapp, Karl Glusman, and Happy Anderson.

The Bikeriders is an immersive experience that transports viewers to the world of ‘60s bike riders, who were bare-knuckled, leather jacket-sporting, and ready to pick a fight. In such a gritty world, enters Kathy, an outsider who falls for the right hand of the bike gang Vandals, Benny.

However, marrying Benny does not really follow the plan of making an honest, hardworking man out of him. The Vandals, once a local haven for outsiders who loved riding motorcycles and having a good time, soon gained notoriety and then began their downfall.

Over the years, Kathy tried hard to compete with the charismatic sway held by Johnny over Benny, even when the gang becomes involved in running drugs, gambling, and prostitution.

However, as revealed by Focus Feature’s official trailer, which is the same as the previous one except for the change of hands, Kathy, Benny, and Johnny must make their choices soon. Else life will make it for them, and it hardly shirks away from making the deserving pay.
