Catwoman Spin Off Not In Works Right Now

Ever since The Penguin ended, or was about to end, the curiosity to know what the next spin-off series to The Batman in The Batman Epic Crime Saga will be is at its peak, and fans have been going restless to know. The lowest hanging fruit said that Joker, played by Barry Keoghan, might get his standalone show after Oz Cobb, but James Gunn poured cold water over it immediately. So there was radio silence around this topic. But then the finale aired, and that final scene in the prison with Sofia Gigante getting a mail from Selina Kyle made fans believe that the next one to get her own spin-off is Zoë Kravitz, who plays Catwoman, aka Selina. While there was no update on the same HBO and Max CEO and Chairman Casey Bloys has now decided to shoot this one down too.

The Catwoman Show Not Happening Yet

For the unversed, Zoë Kravitz played Catwoman in The Batman and was a very integral part of the film. She even had a complete showdown moment with The Penguin in the movie, and that was one of the highlights. So she is very close to the world that is now running in The Batman Epic Crime Saga plus the tease that she is the half-sister to Sofia. So it is not completely a tall order to think Selina Kyle may get her standalone show. But that doesn't mean she is. Casey Bloys has now confirmed that while a future is being chalked out for the IP, a Catwoman series is not a part of it right now.

HBO and Max CEO and Chairman Casey Bloys confirmed that there are other spin-offs being planned for The Batman with Penguin connections and more, but a Catwoman show is not one of them as of now. “We’ve been talking mostly about: Is there another story with The Penguin?" Bloys tells TV Line. "I have to let him get that movie set up and moving. But [Matt and Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc] work really well together, so hopefully they’ll find something that they think is exciting.”

The Penguin Sets Up The Batman 2

We always knew that The Penguin would establish The Batman Part II and become a bridge between the two movies. But who knew it would be so cryptic? The setup begins with Sofia sitting in Arkham Asylum after being arrested again. A mail comes in for her, and it is from Selina Kyle. Now, in case you do not remember who Selina is, she is Catwoman, played by Zoë Kravitz in The Batman. Now, the fact that Sofia has a positive smile looking at the mail means there is a big reveal waiting for us. This can be directly connected to the fact that Sofia never felt connected to her family, and now when Selina appears out of nowhere, she knows this is someone she can maybe trust.

Meanwhile, in the penthouse, Oz now has no competitor challenging his stand. So, right when he is celebrating and the camera pans out, we see a signal—a bat signal in the sky. This could be a warning for Oz that Bruce Wayne/Vengeance has returned to the city. This makes The Batman Part II even more exciting because now Bruce Wayne has to fight both Penguin and Sofia, as they are well-established crime lords in Gotham. Not to forget, both Riddler and Joker are still in Arkham Asylum, which means even their presence can have an impact on the story.

The Batman Part II is set to hit the big screen on October 2, 2026. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
