At the Tudum: A Global Fan Event held in Brazil by Netflix, the makers of The Archies unveiled the teaser of the film. This most-anticipated project is directed by Zoya Akhtar and marks the debut of popular star kids namely Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda playing key roles.

Not only this, but the film also features Mihir Ahuja, Vedang Raina, Aditi Seigal, and Yuvraj Menda in crucial roles. The film is the Indian musical adaptation of the popular Archie Comics series.

Soon after the launch of the teaser at the event, Netflix India dropped the video of it on its social media account and wrote, “You’ve seen them in comics, in books, and in Riverdale — but this time around, you’ll see them in India! Set in the 60’s, The Archies builds a world that’s both familiar and new. Here’s your first look #TUDUM!”

To this post, filmmaker Karan Johar and social media influencer Navya Nanda heaped dropped hearts in the comments section.

However, a certain section of Instagram users questioned the claims made in the teaser vis-a-vis the depiction shown in the film.

One Instagram user pointed out: “Showing past Era of India or Europe??? Trying to show 80s of India as European clothing... is it another Bollywood movie with good looks n songs but horrible story.”

Another Instagram user remarked, “So you are saying India was more developed and looked like Europe in the 60s... What a joke!”

One more social media user added, “It hardly looks Indian! Seeing no point in this creation.”

“The 99% of population of India won’t relate to this,” said another Instagram user.

Meanwhile, the promotions of The Archies are going on in full swing. Today morning, the entire cast of The Archies met Hollywood star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan at the event and even got a chance to get clicked with her. Not only this, but Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has also cheered for his sister’s son, Agastya Nanda and the entire team of The Archies on Twitter. Abhishek, too, looks forward to the movie.
