The Adam Project BTS: Watch what went into creating Ryan Reynolds’ magnificent futuristic world

The film, directed by Shawn Levy, also stars Walker Scobell, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldaña.

The Adam Project marked Shawn Levy’s latest collaboration with Ryan Reynolds after Free Guy. Through The Adam Project, Levy wanted to bring forth a film that was both an emotional and visual spectacle, something the filmmaker achieved through its moving story and stunning VFX.

A recently released BTS video shows just how much thought and effort went into making some of the awe-inspiring sequences in the film. In the video, the director and the film’s VFX supervisor, Alessandro Ongaro, take viewers through some of the particular scenes in the film which were carefully constructed using a multitude of visual tools. Viewers are taken into the studio where massive blue and green screens helped to build Adam’s world. Some of the futuristic weapons the protagonist used also had a lot of thought put into it, the reasoning behind them also being explained by the makers. Some of the snazzy action sequences were a combination of actual stunt work and choreography, with VFX adding magic to it.

The film revolves around the story of an adult fighter pilot named Adam who journeys into the past and meets his younger self, where the duo go on a mission to save the future. The film, which premiered on March 11, features Reynolds as the adult Adam, while Walker Scobell portrays young Adam. Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Catherine Keener, Alex Mallari Jr. and Zoe Saldaña also play important roles in the movie. Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin have written the film’s screenplay.

The Adam Project is available to stream on Netflix.
