Thattassery Koottam, which marked the debut of Dileep’s brother Anoop, also has Ganapathy and Siddique in pivotal roles
Arjun Ashokan’s long-delayed film Thattassery Kottam, which hit theatres in November after over two years of completing its shoot, is now gearing up for its OTT release. We had earlier revealed the film’s OTT rights were picked by the streaming platform ZEE5.
The movie, which revolves around a bunch of friends who are also goldsmiths, is an entertainer and also marked the debut of actor Dileep’s brother Anoop Padmanabhan.
Scripted by Santosh Echikkanam, the film has Arjun playing the role of a happy-go-lucky chap named Sanju, who prefers to pursue civil services instead of following his family’s footsteps of goldsmiths. However, an accident to his uncle prompts him to help the former out by designing a necklace for a wealthy businessman’s daughter. Things turn topsy turvy, when in a drunken stupour, he gives away the necklace to his girlfriend. The challenges ahead for him as well as his family form the plot of the movie, which also has Unni Rajan P Dev, Aneesh Gopal, Sreelakshmi, Ganapathy, Vijayaraghavan, Mammukkoya, Priyamvada Krishnan and Siddique.
The movie also has a cameo appearance by Dileep, who essays Ganapathy’s brother. Dileep has also produced the film, which had wrapped up its shoot before the pandemic and had taken its due time to hit theatres.
Thattassery Koottam is expected to begin streaming on ZEE5 as a Christmas or New Year release. The platform is yet to officially announce the release date of the film but a December 23 or 30 release is likely. The OTT platform is also set to begin streaming Aparna Balamurali and Harish Uthaman’s investigative thriller Ini Utharam by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Arjun has a host of films lined up for release including Thuramukham, Enittu Avasanam, Nancy Rani and Romancham. He has also completed shooting for Trishanku, with Anna Ben.
