The actor's fans were incensed about the film's postponed theatrical release. The teaser was released on December 1 of last year. In the clip, actor Siddique describes the murders that took place in Thankamani. Another significant character arc for Dileep is hinted at in the teaser.
The movie looks to be an engaging account of the real events that transpired on October 21, 1986, in Thankamani, a village in the Kamakshi gram panchayat of Idukki district. These events started as a bus service dispute and ended with gunfire and a police baton charge. Kerala was upended by the Thankamani incident in the 1980s.

Dileep's fans reacted favourably to the first-look poster for Thankamani as soon as it was revealed, but many others posted conflicting comments on social media. People expressed their dissatisfaction with Dileep's movie, with many vowing not to watch it because the actor was previously charged in the actress assault case.
Due to the case and his selection of subpar scripts, Dileep's films have repeatedly underperformed at the box office over the past few years. His recent film, Bandra, was unsuccessful in drawing audiences to theatres.
R B Chaudhary and Rafi Mathira are producing this film under the banners of Super Good Films and Ifar Media. Ajmal Ameer, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Kottayam Ramesh, Major Ravi, Santosh Keezhatoor, Thomman Manguva, Ramya Panicker, Mukta, and Sivakami are among the other important actors in the revenge thriller. Tamil actors Sampath Ram and John Vijay will also be seen in the film, playing significant roles.
