Thankamani box office collection: The period action film, which features Dileep in the lead role hit theatres on March 7, 2024. The movie, which is helmed by newcomer Ratheesh Reghunandan, is based on a real-life incident that happened in the Thankamani village of Idukki, Kerala, in October 1986. Reportedly, the movie, which was expected to put an end to the low phase in Dileep’s career, has made a disastrous opening at the box office, collecting just Rs. 70 lakh on Day 1.

Thankamani Box Office Day 1 collection: Movie makes Rs. 75 lakh worldwide

As per the recent updates from the trade experts, Thankamani has made a highly disappointing opening at the box office, minting just Rs. 75 lakh on Day 1 from its worldwide collection. It is indeed a below-average opening for the film, which features a popular star like Dileep in the lead role and was released after an extensive promotional campaign. The movie reportedly made just around Rs. 55 lakh from the all-India box office on Day 1.

The mixed to negative reviews and poor word-of-mouth publicity has clearly impacted the box office performance of the film, which was made with a budget of Rs. 30 crore. If things proceed at the same rate, it will be impossible for Dileep’s period action film to establish a stronghold at the box office, especially because it is clashing with the mega blockbusters Manjummel Boys and Premalu, which are continuing their successful runs at the theatres.

Thankamani box office prediction

The recent updates suggest that things are expected to get better for Thankamani on its second day in theatres, considering the Shivarathri holiday and extended week. However, the advance booking rating is still very poor, considering the film’s leading man Dileep’s unshakeable hold among the family audiences. Even the loyal fans of ‘Janapriyanayakan’ are disappointed with the film, which makes it extremely difficult for the Ratheesh Reghunandan directorial to pass the first Monday test.
