Vineeth Sreenivasan and Biju Menon play the leads in Thankam, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video
Scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran’s films as well as their characters stay in the minds of the audience, long after the movie is over. It’s apparently the same for the actors who are part of his movies as well. Vineeth Sreenivasan, who plays Kannan in Syam’s latest script Thankam, says he was haunted by a sequence he had performed in the movie, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
While giving away the sequence would spoil the suspense of the Saheed Arafath directorial, which also has Biju Menon, Girish Kulkarni and Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth says that the sequence had impacted him personally that he had reached out to an old friend that he had been meaning to for years and also visited them after the shoot of the film was over.
“We shot that particular scene in the film in Coimbatore,” says Vineeth, in an exclusive chat with OTTplay. “While shooting that scene was also when I contemplated the most about my character Kannan. Most of the time during the shoot of Thankam, I went with what Syam and Saheed would brief me about my character and his situation. So, I didn’t have to ponder too much about what Kannan’s life entailed. But when I did that particular scene, I had to get into his mindset. There was a hangover too from the scene, after I went back to my room as well as the next day. I kept mulling over that scene and it stayed on in my mind for a long time.
Thankam, which had released in theatres on January 26, began streaming on Amazon Prime Video from February 20. The film revolves around the disappearance of Vineeth’s character Kannan, who delivers jewellery in exchange for pure gold, and how the Mumbai police trace his journey from Kerala and Tamil Nadu to Maharashtra.
