Thank God might witness further decline as Diwali holidays are over.
The second day of Thank God's release saw a Rs. 5.75 crore nett collection, which is a modest amount but somewhat in line with expectations given that there was always going to be a decrease after the Diwali break. The issue is not the second day's business, but rather the number it attracted on the first day. As per Box Office India, Day Two saw a decline of about 25%.
The film had a good hold there, as it does with other films playing during the holidays. Its box office performance has even improved in some Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh locations. But the film has experienced 40% sales declines in areas without holidays.
The movie made Rs. 13.25 crore nett in its first two days, but that number is expected to go down over the next two days as the number of people on vacation goes down. Then, on Saturday, there may be an improvement, but if so, it will be at multiplexes.
Here are Thank God's first two days of collections.
Tuesday - Rs. 7.50 crore
Wednesday - Rs. 5.75 crore
TOTAL - Rs. 13.25 crore
Meanwhile, according to the production figures, Thank God raked in Rs. 8.50 crore on its opening day, while the second day's collections were Rs. 6 crore. The total collections are Rs. 14.50 crore as of now.
Talking about the plot of Thank God an accident befalls an egotistical real estate broker (Sidharth Malhotra) who has racked up enormous debts. As he starts to wake up, he realizes that he has been taken to heaven. God (Ajay Devgn) shows up in front of him and reveals to him that to continue living, he will have to participate in a "GAME OF LIFE." If he is unable to triumph, however, he will be consigned to the fiery depths of hell. His fate will be determined by the outcome of this contest.
The film, directed by Indra Kumar, also features Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead. Thank God clashed with Akshay Kumar's Ram Setu at the box office.
