The film clashed with Ram Setu at the box office.
Thank God made about Rs 7.50 crore nett on its opening day, which is a respectable amount for the movie but had to be higher because of the Diwali holiday. This would be a strong beginning if the major holiday hadn't just passed. The holiday is bringing numbers to decent levels rather than good ones in states like UP, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and CI, where there are some respectable numbers.
As per Box Office India, the film could have been closer in some regions if it had been a mass comedy, but it came out more as a family entertainer, which held back collections in mass pockets as Ram Setu was the top pick. The movie came in second place to the bigger film, Ram Setu in all circuits. If it had been advertised as a two-hero movie, there might have been more people in the mass markets, but since Ajay Devgn wasn't there, it seemed like he was just a supporting actor.
Even though these collections will likely be higher because of the holidays, it remains to be seen how East Punjab, Maharashtra, and West Bengal can keep going since they haven't collected much even with the holidays. Thank God should continue to collect well over the Diwali period, especially in the Hindi circuits.
Meanwhile, according to the production figures, the Indra Kumar directorial has raked in Rs 8.10 crore on the first day in the domestic market. Stating the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Thank God relied completely on spot bookings on the big Diwali holiday… Although Day 1 business is not proportionate to the names attached, the business gathered speed towards evening onwards. Needs to grow/jump in the long, extended weekend... Tue ₹ 8.10 cr. India business."
Thank God is the Hindi remake of the Danish film Sorte Kugler and stars Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. On Diwali 2022, this movie went up against Ram Setu which starred Akshay Kumar, at the box office.
