Mohan Raja directorial Thani Oruvan has won six awards at the Tamil Nadu State Film Award
Jayam Ravi-starrer Thani Oruvan has achieved an impressive feat by winning six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for the year 2015. The Thani Oruvan star Jayam Ravi took to his social media pages to pen a note of gratitude over the film’s achievement. The Siren star conveyed his hearty wishes to the director of the film Mohan Raja and his co-star Arvind Swami for winning awards for the film.
“Glad that #ThaniOruvan got 6 TN State Film Awards in various categories, hearty wishes to my brother @jayam_mohanraja , @thearvindswami sir , @archanakalpathi & everyone from the team of Thani Oruvan (sic),” the actor wrote.
For the unversed, Thani Oruvan won six accolades for Best Film (First prize), Best Villain to Aravind Swamy, Best Story Writer to Mohan Raja, Best Editor to Gopi Krishna, Best Choreographer to Brindha and Best Cinematographer to Ramji.
Earlier today, the Tamil Nadu government announced the State Film Awards for the year 2015, with the award ceremony scheduled to take place on March 6 at TN Rajarathinam Kalai Arangam. The awards will be handed out by the Minister for Information and Publicity, MP Saminathan.
The TN State Awards were first started in the year 1967 but were discontinued after 2008. The awards were reinstated in 2017, and the government announced the winners for films that were released between 2009 to 2014.

Meanwhile, the fan-favourite film Thani Oruvan’s much-awaited sequel, which was announced earlier, is speculated to go on floors very soon! According to close sources, the Mohan Raja directorial will tentatively commence shooting from the second week of April this year. Earlier on the film’s eighth anniversary, the makers released a promo video of the sequel, announcing that both Jayam and Nayanthara will reprise their roles.
The upcoming film is expected to be an extension of the first part, and the team is currently in discussions regarding the antagonist for the sequel. Hip Hop Thamizha, who had scored music for Thani Oruvan, will be onboard for the new project as well.
