Thangalaan, the 2024 Tamil film starring Vikram in the lead role, after much waiting, is now available for streaming on Netflix. The film is written and directed by Pa Ranjith and hit theatres on August 15. However, after months of waiting, Thangalaan begins streaming in multiple languages.

We had earlier reported that Netflix had grabbed the post-theatrical streaming rights of Tamil film Thangalaan. The film hit theatres on August 15 with a positive reception. However, the OTT release of the film was long-delayed. Now, about three months after its release, Thangalaan begins streaming on Netflix. It is available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

Thangalaan is a period-action drama directed by Pa Ranjith and features Vikram in the leading role. He is supported by a cast comprising Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and others. The film revolves around a group of tribal people who are employed by British officers to find gold in KGF.

Much like Pa Ranjith’s previous films, this film too portrays the authentic experiences of marginalized individuals from previous centuries and their fight for justice, constrained by oppression, as they are employed by colonizers to find gold in the region.

The team of Thangalaan

The film is backed by Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner. Marking his first collaboration with Vikram, Pa Ranjith wrote the film along with Tamil Praba with dialogues penned by Azhagiya Periyavan. The technical crew of Thangalaan consists of music by GV Prakash Kumar and Kishore Kumar handling the cinematography. RK Selva is the editor.

Upon its release, Thangalaan received a positive response from critics and the audience. The performance of Vikram was greatly lauded. Thangalaan, with its gritty action sequences, and emotional quotient, makes up for perfect storytelling of the unknown. Stream the film on Netflix right now in four languages.
