There’s no stereotyping Kalyani Priyadarshan. The actress, who was already part of two big hits in Malayalam this year – with Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Hridayam and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Bro Daddy, will next be seen in a totally different avatar in Khalid Rahman’s Thallumaala.

The makers of the movie, which has Tovino Thomas in the lead, recently unveiled the poster featuring Kalyani’s character, who is reportedly called Beepathu. Tovino shared the character poster on his social media poster, with the caption, “Be like Beepathu”, to which Kalyani replied: “It’s not easy being her.”

The film, scripted by Muhsin Parari and Ashraf Hamza, is touted to be an all-out entertainer. The movie’s producer Ashiq Usman had earlier told OTTplay that it is “the most exciting and challenging film at the same time”. “It’s a proper entertainer with eight fight scenes and eight songs,” he said, about the movie that also has Shine Tom Chacko, Lukman Avaran and Gokulan in pivotal roles.

The team had filmed in Thalassery, Kozhikode, Malappuram and had shot for two weeks in Dubai earlier this month. Kalyani’s poster in her uber-cool avatar is from the Dubai schedule. Earlier, the team had also revealed Tovino’s look from the movie in a vibrant poster, introducing his character Manavalan Waseem. While the makers are yet to reveal what the movie is about, it’s rumoured to revolve around a wedding.

Thallumaala was first announced with Muhsin set to direct it and Tovino and Soubin Shahir as its leads. However, after the pandemic, the cast and crew changed. Its producer Ashiq had recently put out a social media post, saying that the movie had pre-production spanning 18 months, before it went on floors in 2021. The big-budget film, which is expected to be a theatrical release, was shot over a period of 102 days.

Its director Khalid had previously helmed Asif Ali and Rajisha Vijayan’s Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, Mammootty’s Unda and Shine Thom Chacko’s Love.
