Vijay is currently shooting in Hyderabad for director Vamsi Paidipally's upcoming film, which is tentatively being referred to as Thalapathy66. In the meantime, the actor met the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on May 18. Pictures of the meeting have become viral on the internet. It is said that the meeting was a meant as a courtesy call as the actor was shooting in the city and that it had no political undertones.
Accompanying Vijay was the film's director Vamsi Paidipally, with whom the actor is working with for the first time. He wrote on his social media page, "Was a pleasure meeting Honorable @TelanganaCMO Sri.KCR garu along with @actorvijay Sir... :) @MPsantoshtrs (sic)."
Rajya Sabha MP J Santhosh Kumar, who was present during the meeting, shared some pictures on his social media and stated that Vijay had extended his support for the Green India Movement by planting tree saplings. He wrote on his social media page, “Pleasantly surprise meet. Happy to meet @actorvijay garu along with @directorvamshi in Hyderabad. Thanked #Thalapathy for his contribution for our #GreenIndiaChallenge by planting a sapling the other day. Had a great time with the star.”
Thalapathy 66 is a Tamil – Telugu bilingual, with Rashmika Mandanna playing the leading lady in it. The music for the movie is composed by S Thaman. Interestingly, this is the first that Thaman is composing for Vijay and Rashmika is teaming up opposite Vijay. Thalapathy 66 has an ensemble cast including Shaam, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Srikanth, Yogi Babu, and Samyuktha.
The buzz is that the first look of the film will be released on the birthday of Vijay on June 22. Cinematography for the film is by Kharthik Phalani and editing is by Praveen KL. The shoot kickstarted in Chennai with the first schedule being canned there. Thalapathy 66 is touted to release on Pongal 2023.
