Thalapathy Vijay's father, actor SA Chandrasekar, who recently turned 80, celebrated the occasion with a special pooja at Thirukkadaiyur temple. It's customary for people to conduct a pooja when they turn 60 or 80. SAC's wife Shoba Chandrasekhar was also present for the pooja. The ace director shared the pictures on his social media page and posted in Tamil, which roughly translates to, "Completion of 80 years... We performed special yaga pooja at Thirukkadaiyur Amrithakateswarar temple and had darshan of the lord." The pictures are now doing the rounds on the internet. Vijay, however, was not present on the big occasion.

The actor is shooting for his upcoming film Varisu in Hyderabad and it is believed that it is due to his busy shoot schedule that he was not part of the pooja. However, there is also a buzz that Vijay was not present due to a misunderstanding he had with his father, when the later tried to launch a party in his name. Vijay had then distanced himself from the political party and had urged his fans to not join the outfit. Some also say that the family didn't want a milling crowd and hence, Vijay kept away from the rituals.

Vijay was recently spotted at the Hyderabad airport and the actor has begun shooting for the next schedule of Varisu, directed by Vamsi Paidipally. The film has Rashmika Mandanna playing the leading lady, marking her first collaboration with the actor. Varisu has an ensemble supporting cast which includes Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Shaam, Yogi Babu, Srikanth, Sangeetha Krish and Samyuktha among others. While Karthick Palani is cranking the camera, Praveen KL is handling the editing. Thaman is scoring the music for the film.

The film is bankrolled by Dil Raju and Shirish of Sri Venkateswara Creations and is slated to hit screens for Pongal, 2023. Interestingly, Vijay has not had a Pongal release for a long time and fans of the actor are eagerly looking forward to the same.
