The actor is currently shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo and will later, team up with Venkat Prabhu for Thalapathy68
Actor Vijay, who is currently busy with the shoot of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo, seems to be gearing up for his political entry. If his line-up of activities and public engagements are to go by, it looks like Vijay might indeed make his entry into politics.
With World Hunger Day falling on May 28, the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI) is all set to provide free lunch. A circular issued by Bussy N Anand, general secretary of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam stated that Vijay's aim was to create awareness and feed as many hungry people as possible.
Hence, the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam will implement the 'Thalapathy Vijay One Day Lunch Service' scheme on the occasion of World Hunger Day (May 28) across Tamil Nadu. The poor and needy will be provided food in all the 234 constituencies in the state.
And that's not all. Vijay is all set to meet and interact with the toppers from Class 10 and 12 of state board next month. Apart from the toppers in the many constituents, Vijay will also interact with deserving children who have lost either one or both of their parents during Covid. The actor is expected to meet more than 1,000 students in total. He will be offering financial support to the needy.

Vijay has been quite vocal about criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party on and off screen. While he had hit out at the fuel price rise, he had also spoken about Goods and Services Tax (GST) in his Mersal, which later erupted into a full-blown controversy. Later, the BJP chose to refer to him by using his full name, Joseph Vijay, thus putting his identity as a star hailing from a minority community. I-T raids were also held at Vijay's premises
However, the actor's support has only increased after the incident and Vijay ended up having the last laugh. Vijay is a superstar in Tamil Nadu and his fan base extends beyond the borders of the state.
Having said that will the fan base turn into votes is something that one has to wait and watch after the debacle of Kamal Haasan in the political fray, and Rajinikanth staying out of it.
