Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated 69th project is expected to have its official launch very soon. The movie, which marks the superstar’s final outing in films before his long break is expected to be directed by H Vinoth. The movie, which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, has been making headlines with the rumours about its star cast for quite some time. If the recent updates are to be believed, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is set to reunite with Thalpathy Vijay after the massive success of Jilla, for the project.

According to the rumour mills, the legendary Malayalam superstar has come on board for Thalapathy 69, which is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects in Tamil cinema. The grapevine suggests that Mohanlal is set to play a pivotal role in the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, which is touted to be a political thriller. In that case, the upcoming H Vinoth directorial will mark the veteran actor’s reunion with Tamil cinema’s biggest crowd-puller, after a long gap of 10 years. However, none of these reports are officially confirmed yet.
Mohanlal and Thalapathy Vijay’s Jilla
For the uninitiated, Mohanlal and Thalapathy Vijay teamed up for the first time in 2014, for the action-drama film Jilla. The movie directed by RT Neason featured the Drishyam actor in the role of Sivan, a mafia don based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Vijay appeared in the role of Shakti, the adopted son of Sivan who soon became his favourite and confidante. Thalapathy 69: Here's what we know
The much-awaited project, which marks Thalapathy Vijay’s first collaboration with director H Vinoth, reportedly features the actor in a never-seen-before avatar. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the popular actress is reportedly playing the female lead opposite Vijay in the film. Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the songs and original score. The project, which is produced by KVN Productions, is expected to have its official launch, in a few weeks.
