The last time Vijay and Jyotika had worked together in a film was Thirumalai
If the buzz on social media is to be believed, Jyotika is likely to play the leading lady in Thalapathy 68. We hear that the team has approached the actress to play the lead in the film, which is helmed by Venkat Prabhu. If the Kaathal – The Core actress indeed gets on board, this would be her reunion with Vijay after a span of two long decades.
The duo had last teamed up for Thirumalai (2003), which was directed by Ramana. The film didn't rake in the moolah at the box office. Before that, the duo were seen together in the super hit film Kushi (2000), which marked the sophomore project of director SJ Suryah after his hit film, Vaali. Interestingly, Jyotika had appeared in a cameo in the film.
Vijay, in the meantime, has wrapped his portions in Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film Leo and is currently holidaying in Europe . The shoot for the film is likely to begin after the release of Leo. Incidentally, Leo marks the comeback of the hit onscreen pair Trisha and Vijay, who have delivered films like Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi and Kuruvi.
While Thalapathy 68 will mark the maiden collaboration between Venkat Prabhu and Vijay this will be Vijay's second project with Yuvan Shankar Raja, who had last scored music for a Vijay film in Pudhiya Geethai (2003).
Thalapathy 68 will be bankrolled by AGS Productions. The producers had shared their excitement about being part of the film. Taking to their social media handle, the producers made the official announcement. "It is our pride and privilege to collaborate again with #Thalapathy @actorvijay Sir for our 25th Film directed by @vp_offl music by @thisisysr #Thalpathy68 #Ags25 (sic)."
While Leo is all set to hit screens in October, the buzz around Thalapathy 68 is only getting stronger by the day.
