Rumours about Thalapathy 68 flooded the social media accounts of the producers to such a degree that they were forced to issue an official clarification to put an end to all unwanted speculations.

Thalapathy 68 is touted to be a sci-fi thriller
Even as Thalapathy Vijay is still basking in the success of his recent film Leo, the anticipation for his next film, temporarily titled Thalapathy 68, is already growing stronger. For the last few days, the internet has been abuzz with rumours about the upcoming film's official title. While some claimed the name of the movie was Boss, and others suggested it was Puzzle.
Fan theories and rumours flooded the social media accounts of the producers to such a degree that they were forced to issue an official clarification to put an end to all unwanted speculations. Producer Archana Kalpathi of AGS Cinemas, the banner which is bankrolling Thalapathy 68, on Wednesday, dismissed the rumours about the title while requesting fans to wait for an official announcement.
"Just saw all the updates. Thank you for the love Keep calm and wait for the real one very soon @vp_offl is cooking something special. It is definitely not Boss or Puzzle Happy Morning everyone #Thalapathy68," she tweeted.

According to reports, the producers have planned to launch the first look of Thalapathy 68, along with the title reveal on New Year's Eve. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.
Director Venkat Prabhu is writing and directing Thalapathy 68. The film marks the director's maiden collaboration with Vijay and it is one of the reasons that's contributing to the film's pre-release hype.
The film went on the floors even before Leo hit the big screens earlier this year. However, the producers kept all the details and updates under wraps to avoid diverting attention from Leo. Speculations are rife about the film's plot and Vijay's character. Some reports claim that the producers have enlisted the services of a Hollywood studio to employ digital de-ageing techniques, aiming to portray a younger version of Vijay in the film.

Thalapathy 68 boasts a star-studded supporting cast, including Prabhudeva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prasanth, Laila, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Amir, Yogi Babu, VTV and Ganesh.
