Thalapathy Vijay, the biggest crowd-puller of Tamil film industry, is teaming up with renowned filmmaker Venkat Prabhu for his next outing. The highly anticipated project, which has been tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, started rolling in October 2023. As per the latest reports, leading man Thalapathy Vijay is set to appear in multiple get-ups in the movie, and one of the looks will feature him as a 19-year-old.
Thalapathy Vijay to appear as a 19-year-old in Venkat Prabhu’s film
If the latest reports are to be believed, the Leo actor is set to appear as a 19-year-old youngster in some portions of the Venkat Prabhu directorial. This look of Thalapathy Vijay is expected to be featured mostly in the flashback portions of the film, which reportedly revolves around time travelling concept. The latest updates suggest that the leading man is set to undergo a major transformation to appear as a 19-year-old in the film.
Thalapathy 68 to spend 6 Crores for Vijay’s look as a 19-year-old?
The grapevine suggests that the Thalapathy 68 are spending a whopping amount of around Rs. 6 Crores, just for the portions that will feature Vijay as a 19-year-old. However, it is yet to be revealed if director Venkat Prabhu and his team are planning to use the digital de-aging technology for portions. While some reports insist that Thalapathy Vijay will undergo digital de-aging for the portions, some others suggest that a massive amount is spent on the actor’s prosthetic makeup. However, we will have to wait till the makers officially confirm the reports, to know more.

The highly anticipated project, which marks Thalapathy Vijay’s first collaboration with director Venkat Prabhu, is expected to hit the theatres by the second half of 2024. Thalapathy 68 features a stellar star cast including Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Mohan, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jayaram, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav, Premgi Amaran, Aravind Akash, Ajmal Ameer, and others in supporting roles.
Venkat Prabhu himself pens the screenplay and dialogues of Thalapathy 68. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the songs and original score. Siddhartha Nuni is the director of photography. The project is bankrolled by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh, and Kalpathi S Suresh, under the banner, AGS Entertainment.
